Micron stock (NASDAQ: MU) is at an interesting technical point. After a strong rally, the stock has entered a trading range, and the price action suggests that another move lower remains a real possibility.
My focus is no longer on chasing momentum near the top of the range. Instead, I am watching for opportunities closer to the lower end, where the risk-to-reward profile becomes more attractive.
Micron Stock Is Still Trading Within a Range
I stopped making videos about Micron for a while because my view was that the stock had entered a trading range. In this type of market, price tends to move repeatedly between the upper and lower boundaries, often returning to the midpoint.
That is exactly what happened.
The recent price action has become more interesting because the trend line has broken. This opens the door to a potential move toward the lower part of the range.
However, a trend-line break alone does not guarantee a sustained decline. The broader trading structure remains the key factor to watch.
Why I Am Watching the Lower Third of the Range
The blue box on my chart represents the trading range I am monitoring. As long as Micron stock remains within this structure, I prefer to focus on buying opportunities in the bottom third rather than chasing price near the top.
The reason is straightforward: the potential reward is generally more attractive when entering near support than when buying close to resistance.
If MU stock moves toward the lower zone and forms a higher low, I will be looking for a potential long entry. If the stock fails to reach that area or does not develop a favorable setup, I will leave it alone and look for another opportunity.
There is no need to force a trade when the conditions are not right.
Could AI Concerns Push MU Stock Lower?
One factor worth monitoring is the potential for a slowdown in AI-related demand or spending. If concerns about AI growth begin to affect market sentiment, semiconductor stocks could face additional selling pressure.
I am not seeing that slowdown materialize in the current setup yet. My broader view is that AI will continue to support demand for memory, which remains an important part of the infrastructure required for AI development.
This creates an important distinction between short-term stock price movements and the longer-term business outlook. Even if Micron’s share price moves lower within its trading range, that does not automatically invalidate the underlying demand thesis.
Why I Would Not Go Long at the Top of the Range
At this stage, I would be short or flat rather than buying aggressively near the upper boundary of the range.
The Nasdaq and semiconductor stocks remain sensitive to shifts in sentiment, and the current structure favors patience over chasing price.
The odds favor lower prices within the trading range, but that is not the same as predicting an uninterrupted decline. Price can recover toward the midpoint or revisit the upper zone before the next meaningful move develops.
My approach is to wait for a location where the potential reward justifies the risk.
My Trading Plan for Micron Stock
I am watching for a move toward the lower third of the trading range, followed by a potential higher low that could provide an entry signal.
If that setup develops, I will evaluate the entry, stop-loss, and potential target based on the actual price structure. If it does not develop, I will move on to another opportunity.
The objective is not to trade every move. It is to focus on setups where the technical structure offers a clear advantage.
For now, Micron stock remains a name to watch rather than a reason to chase price.
Final Thoughts on MU Stock
Micron stock remains in a trading range, and the recent trend-line break makes the technical picture more interesting. While the possibility of further downside remains, I am also keeping the longer-term AI memory demand thesis in mind.
My strategy is simple: avoid buying near the top of the range, watch for opportunities in the lower third, and only take a long position if price action provides a favorable setup.
In range-bound markets, patience and risk management matter more than trying to predict every move.
